Vermezovic highlighted the performance of goal-scorer Michael Majoro, but admitted that Keegan Ritchie may be suffering from some fatigue after three consecutive games.
He commented after the win: "I think Majoro was excellent today, he scored a goal and created a penalty. I'm satisfied with his game. Ritchie was a bit tired. He played three games in a row. But the win was more important (than individual performances).
"I have nothing against men fighting a physical game, but a dirty game is something different and today there were some studs, worthy of yellow and maybe red cards."
The man of the match was Cosmos goalkeeper Avril Phali, who kept the scoreline respectable for the visitors.
He said: "We learnt our lesson. It is about your mindset in the PSL. The National First Division was more about man marking. I think we got a good test. We were a bit nervous."
Losing coach Jomo Sono remained upbeat despite the defeat, saying: "I thought Cosmos did well considering we had a makeshift team.
"We came back and scored a goal. I thought Jomo Cosmos played well. We changed the system around and took out a defender to bring in a striker."
He added: "We will have about five new faces against Sundowns and we'll compete from there."
