Cape Town - Chippa United will be without suspended defender Christopher Komane when they welcome Maritzburg United to the Wolfson Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Friday.
The match pits ex-Team of Choice coach Ernst Middendorp against his former club and the German will be desperate for victory after stumbling to defeat at University of Pretoria on Wednesday.
Maritzburg will also feel they owe their coach Steve Komphela a victory after letting a another lead slip against Bidvest Wits.
Their form on the road is far better than their home record, which borders on dismal, but the KwaZulu-Natal outfit could do with three points.
While they have not moved from their seventh spot, they are caught in the midfield quagmire and a loss against Chippa, who are 10th with the same amount of points, will see them drop out of the top eight.
Maritzburg's last win came against came against Orlando Pirates on December 2 and Komphela hopes they will be able to hold onto a lead.
“With Swallows it was painful because the goal came right at the end of the match but against Wits we had enough time to salvage the match," he said. "We now need to regenerate and be ready for Chippa United but I hope the Wits defeat made us realise if we don't defend well, we'll get punished."
The men from Pietermaritzburg have a fully-fit squad at their disposal.
