According to Chippa CEO Peter Kotroulis, the deal for the Bloemfontein Celtic man is all but concluded.

"Yes, we have had a meeting with his management and like I said to you that we were close to finalising the deal - he has agreed to joining us," Koutroulis was reported as saying by the MTNfootball website.

"He will be joining us for 18 months although nothing signed yet for now, he has agreed to be our player."

Should the deal go through, Cloete will be teaming up with the coach he worked under at both Maritzburg United and Celtic - Ernst Middendorp.

"We’re delighted to have him in our ranks and he’s a great defender who’s highly rated by our new coach," added Koutroulis.

"We believe he will help the team in collecting points when we resume our league campaign next month."

The 32-year-old former Orlando Pirates, Santos and Free State Stars player can operate at left back or in the middle of the park.
