Chiefs unveil new signings

Pretoria - Kaizer Chiefs unveiled four new signings at a training session at Tuks in Pretoria on Wednesday morning.

Left-back Keegan Ritchie from Moroka Swallows, striker Lehlohonolo Majoro ex-AmaZulu, centre-back Tefu Mashamaite from Wits and centre-back Brent Lawler, who played for Tuks, were the Amakhosi's new acquisitions.

The club looks likely to lose the service of Zimbabwean striker Knowledge Musona who is currently in Germany, finalising his move to Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

Musona's absence will leave a void in the goal-scoring department and Bafana Bafana's Bernard Parker has been touted as a possible signing for coach Vladimir Vermezovic.

"We're looking for some strikers. Parker has been on my list for some time, but it all depends if Musona goes," said Vermezovic.

Looking at his new defenders, the coach said he believed they had great potential.

"We signed Mashamaite and Ritchie who are both Bafana Bafana material," he said.

Into the second week of pre-season training, Ritchie said he was working extremely hard for the season ahead.

"Training has been going well, but it's been the toughest pre-season I've ever experienced," said Ritchie.

"It has been intense and rigorous but it has all been useful and helped me get into shape for the new campaign.”

The 21-year-old is optimistic about making the starting lineup for Chiefs.

"My personal goal is to become a regular in the team by working hard at training and showing the coach my commitment," Ritchie said.

Chiefs face English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in Polokwane on Saturday in the Vodacom Challenge and play Orlando Pirates the following week.
