Chiefs to miss Tefu more than Khune

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs legend, Shane McGregor, believes that the Naturena-based team will miss the services of departed Tefu Mashamaite more than that of long time first choice goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune.

Speaking to Sport24, McGregor said Mashamaite played a pivotal role for Chiefs on the road to winning the Absa premiership title and the MTN8 last season, while he feels the goalkeeping department is no longer a problem in the absence of Khune.

“I think Chiefs is covered in the goalkeeping department as brilliant Khuzwayo and Reyaad Pieterse have managed to step in while Khune was injured and did the job perfectly,” McGregor said.

“It's Mashamaite that I feel they will struggle to replace as he was a top defender, a leader and somebody who always scored important goals when it was tough for the team and for that I think it is going to be very difficult for the team to continue without his services.”

Both Khune and Mashamaite left the club after failing to sign new contracts at Naturena.
