Johannesburg - PSL log leaders Kaizer Chiefs will asses the degree of striker Bernard Parker’s injury when he returns to the club on Friday.
According to the Soccerladuma.co.za website, Parker, along with the six other Chiefs players who were a part of Gordon Igesund’s Africa Cup of Nations squad, have been given a few days off by coach Stuart Baxter, before they return to Naturena.
The 26-year-old was substituted in extra-time of the quarter-final defeat with Mali after picking up an ankle injury, however the extent of the damage is not yet known, with Amakhosi’s doctors set to assess him on his return.
Should Parker face a spell on the sidelines then it is thought that his attacking colleague, Matthew Rusike, may get his chance to shine for the club after impressing Baxter and his technical team during their recent training sessions.
Another Chiefs striker, in Lehlohonolo Majoro, also picked up an injury while on international duty, however he came on as a substitute in the quarter-final and is expected to be fit for his club.
