Pretoria - Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Lebese is expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Thursday on a charge of assaulting his girlfriend.

The 26-year-old allegedly attacked the 22-year-old woman and damaged her car in Silverton, Pretoria, on Sunday, February 8.

He handed himself to authorities on February 10.

City Press reported in February that, according to the woman’s affidavit, the couple began arguing at the Jack Budha nightclub in Mamelodi West, Pretoria, when Lebese received a phone call his girlfriend believed was from another girlfriend.

When the girlfriend left in her car, Lebese pursued her, allegedly forced her to a halt, damaged her car and assaulted her.

He faces charges of assault and malicious damage to property and is out on bail of R1 000.
