Amakhosi resumed the domestic campaign last week with a 1-1 draw against strugglers Jomo Cosmos, but they quickly bounced back with a 3-0 demolition of Moroka Swallows on Saturday.
And while Vermezovic says he was happy to have secured the three points against their Soweto rivals, he admits he still saw plenty of room for improvement in his players' performances.
"I congratulate the players for a win against one of the top teams in the country, Moroka Swallows," the Serbian told Chiefs' official website.
"I do feel we should have scored more goals against them. We seemed to relax after scoring the second goal. This is something that I have addressed with the players.
"It was an open game and I always encourage my players to go for more goals. We need to get more serious out there if we are to stand up and be counted come the end of the season."
The Glamour Boys boss was forced to field several of his younger squad members for the clash at Dobsonville Stadium as no fewer than five first-team players were missing through injury and suspension.
Vermezovic.added: "It is never easy when you have so many senior players out but I am pleased with the performance of the younger players.
"Lucky Baloyi got a knock on his knee and will go for a scan on Monday. It looks serious at this stage but we will have to wait and see what happens."
