Chiefs legend excited about development

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs legend, Shane McGregor, has expressed his excitement of the development of soccer over the years.

According to Kaizer Chiefs official website, McGregor was speaking at the SAB Training Centre, Kyalami ahead of the Chiefs and Orlando Pirates Carling Black Label Cup clash.

"Things have changed since my playing days," admits McGregor.

"The development of football has come a long way.

"Looking at this process of selecting a Champion Coach, it is sophisticated. These are exciting moments in football."

The seven finalists from both teams qualified to reach this stage of the competition via a voting process that started on 13 April 2015 and answering questions on SABC1’s Soccerzone.

The finalists were taken through a rigorous selection process including motivating their team and handling press conferencing.

"I'm happy to see how the fans have grown with the development of football," continued McGregor.

"It is interesting to see how knowledgeable the fans have become in terms of the technical aspects of the game."

The selection of the Champion Coach for the much anticipated Carling Black Label Cup Derby match took place on Saturday, July 25.

The winning coaches will have a privilege of taking charge of coaching and experiencing the preparation of the team ahead of a big match.

"It has been a great experience for me to be part of this exercise," concludes McGregor. "The successful coaches have shown a tremendous passion. This is the kind of passion that we need in football."

The announcement of the Champion Coaches will be announced live on SABC1’s Soccerzone on Monday, July 27.

The Champion Coaches will reveal their starting line-ups on Wednesday on SABC1's Sports@10.

The Carling Black Label Cup match is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 1. The sold out match will be played at the iconic FNB Stadium.

Kick-off is at 15:30.
