Chiefs injury update

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs are gearing up to face Free State Stars in their 2014/15 Absa Premiership opening fixture without three players.

Amakhosi confirmed via their website that The Glamour Boys will have to do without Bernard Parker, Siphiwe Tshabalala and Matthew Rusike when they play against Stars.

It is reported that Parker is coming along well in his recovery from an ankle surgery. He has started jogging and doing some easy ball work.

Siphiwe Tshabalala is steadily improving as he continues his rehabilitation from a knee injury. He is expected to return to full training soon.

Matthew Rusike continues to battle with his knee and has been put in a brace. Chiefs’ medical team said they are monitoring his progress at this stage.

The good news for Amakhosi fans is that George Maluleka and Erick Mathoho are still involved in full training after sustaining a knock and a cut on the lower lip, respectively, during the MTN8 knockout victory over Mpumalanga Black Aces last weekend.

The Amakhosi will be looking at the speedy recovery of the injured players ahead of the jam-packed August fixture programme.

The game against Free State Stars is scheduled on Saturday, August 9 at Charles Mopeli Stadium. Kickoff is at 15:00.
