Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs' scheduled pre-season friendly match against Egyptian side, Ismaily Sporting SC, has been called off due to political instability in Egypt.
The PSL champions were scheduled to face the North African side at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday, but according to the Football411 website, those plans have been scrapped over concerns relating to air traffic control.
A statement from the Mbombela Local Municipality, Office of the Municipal Manager, read: "The Mbombela Local Municipality, regrettably informs all the soccer lovers that the proposed match between Kaizer Chiefs FC and Ismaily Sporting SC from Egypt, as the main event of the Mbombela Tourism Explosion has been cancelled due to the political instability in Egypt.
"The municipality would not like to sell tickets only to find that flights are unable to take off from Egypt at the last moment."
Chiefs nevertheless still have plenty of practice matches to follow, including the 2013 Carling Black Label Cup against arch rivals Orlando Pirates at the FNB Stadium on July 27.
