Chiefs form captain committee

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs have formed a committee of seven players who have been tasked with appointing a new captain for the 2015/16 season.

Former skippers Itumeleng Khune and Tefu Mashamaite both departed Amakhosi at the end of last season, leaving the team rudderless as they gear up for their Premiership and MTN8 title defences.

The Glamour Boys have now put the responsibility of naming a new captain in the hands of the players, head coach Steve Komphela confirmed this week.

"I can't say who will be the captain at the moment or who the seven players in the leaders committee are," he told Soccer Laduma.

"They will be announced at the right time in the right forum but what will happen is that the captain will come from that committee."

Chiefs will be hoping to reach a decision shortly, with the side set to kick off the 2015 MTN8 against Maritzburg United on August 5 following the draw for the quarter-finals made earlier this week.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
