Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs’ winning run in the PSL came to an end when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Moroka Swallows at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday night.

Lucky Baloyi fired the Dube Birds ahead midway through the first half before a second-half strike from Reneilwe Letsholonyane earned Amakhosi a share of the spoils.

Swallows fired the first warning shot from a freekick in the 6th minute but his swerving effort was kept out by Brilliant Khuzwayo.

The Amakhosi goalkeeper was beaten in the 28th minute when Baloyi pounced on a loose ball to fire an unstoppable shot into the back of the net.

Vuyisile Wana came close to grabbing a second from a quick break three minutes later, only to send his low shot wide of the far post.

Amakhosi threatened to find the equalizer twice before the break but Letsholonyane saw his chipped effort going just wide in the 32nd minute, while Mandla Masango was denied by Greg Etafia a minute later.

Swallows tried to extend their lead early in the second half but Lantshele Phalane fired wide of the target in the 52nd minute, before shooting over the crossbar three minutes later.

Amakhosi levelled matters in the 64th minute from a quick move which saw Masango setting the ball up for Letsholonyane to fire home from close range.

Amakhosi had the best chance to take maximum points in the 76th minute when a neat touch from Lebese released Tshabalala, but he poked the ball wide of goal from the centre of the box.

Chiefs remain at the top of the table with 25 points from nine matches, while Swallows are in 12th place with 10 points.
