Chiefs fined R500 000

Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs pleaded guilty to charges of spectator misbehaviour in a PSL disciplinary hearing on Monday.

This related to an incident that occurred on 26 September 2010 during the second leg, semi-final of the MTN8 at FNB Stadium where two vuvuzelas and one cabbage were thrown onto the pitch by Amakhosi fans.

Chiefs pleaded guilty and were fined R500 000 wholly suspended for 12 months and were also ordered to pay the costs of the sitting amounting to R21 000.

Furthermore, the chairperson of the Glamour Boys (Kaizer Motaung), has been ordered to address a press conference together with the PSL Prosecutor (Zola Majavu) wherein he denounces spectator misbehaviour.

This press conference will be arranged by the PSL within the next 14 days.

The league's security personnel together with that of Chiefs are closing in on the perpetrators and are close to identifying the culprits who will then be handed over to the law enforcement agencies to be dealt with in accordance with the newly promulgated Safety at Sports and Recreational Events Act.
