Ajax Cape Town remain favourites for the league in poll position with 59 points from 29 games although they need to beat Maritzburg to claim the championship with Pirates in second on 56 points and Chiefs a further point adrift.
But with all three teams playing in different cities and with just one replica trophy, Amakhosi will have to settle for a photo should the Buccaneers and Ajax both lose and they beat AmaZulu.
Protocol demands that the actual trophy is at the venue where the league leaders are in action.
Outgoing PSL CEO Kjetil Siem told the Business Day: "The replica trophy will go to Orlando Stadium because Pirates are second on the log.
"We could not make three trophies and Chiefs will have to settle for a picture of the trophy. It is a nice picture really.
"The chief operations officer is the second in command at the PSL and that means Prof Ronnie Schloss will go to Orlando Stadium with the replica trophy.
"Our GM Derek Blanckensee will travel to Durban with the photograph. This is protocol."
If Ajax do not win the league, the champions will be presented with the official trophy at the PSL offices on Sunday.
