Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that the club's football manager Bobby Motaung has met with out of contract duo Itumeleng Khune and Mandla Masango.
With media speculation rife that both players are in line for a sensational u-turn to re-sign with the Naturena club, the PSL champions have now revealed that the pair have held a meeting with Motaung.
A fan asked the club on Twitter: "hear and khune & masango are stayin is it true?" with the Amakhosi replying: "They met with Bobby on Friday, follow-up meeting this week".
Both Khune and Masango left the club at the end of June after failing to agree new contracts with the Glamour Boys.
Khune is reportedly after a contract in Europe but has, according to speculation, turned down a move to Denmark.
"Spiderkid" was spotted at Chiefs' training ground last week and it seems now that Khune and the club he served for 16 years are hard at work trying to agree to a new deal.
The 28-year-old goalkeeper, who has served as Chiefs and Bafana Bafana captain, was offered advice from former Chiefs goalkeeper William Shongwe. Shongwe believes Khune must "humble himself" and accept the wages offered to him at the Soweto giants.
Masango has been linked with a move to link up with Stuart Baxter at Turkish club Genclerbirligi as well as with a free transfer to PSL side, Mpumalanga Black Aces.
The club's fans will be eagerly awaiting the outcome of the talks between both players and the club ahead of the new season which starts on Saturday with the Carling Black Label Cup.
The match at the FNB Stadium pits arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs against Orlando Pirates in the traditional pre-season opener.
The match kicks off at 15:30.
