Chiefs calm Manqele talks

Johannesburg - Following their bid to sign on-loan Moroka Swallows striker, Edward Manqele, from his original team Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs Media and Corporate Communications Manager Vina Maphosa confirmed that the club will put the talks on hold until Monday when they return to their Naturena offices.

"I don't know anything for now, but I will know something regarding that when we return to the office next week Monday," Maphosa told Sport24.

Chiefs already lost the bid to sign Lebogang Manyama of Ajax Cape Town after the 23-year-old signed for SuperSport United.

Amakhosi want to boost their squad for the upcoming CAF Champions League campaign starting in February.

Chiefs will represent the country in the continental showpiece event as they hope to emulate the success of their arch rivals, Orlando Pirates, in the 10-month long tournament.

Pirates overcame the odds and went all the way to the final before losing to Al Ahly of Egypt.
