The global footballing community was left shocked on Saturday after Bolton's Muamba collapsed at White Hart Lane following a heart attack during the FA Cup clash against Tottenham.
The Trotters midfielder is currently in a stable condition but remains in intensive care at the London Chest Hospital.
Since the incident an impetus has been put on cardiac screenings and regular health checks by all clubs, and Amakhosi physiotherapist Dave Milner is in full agreement.
"New players do a full medical assessment, which includes a cardiac risk factor test. The tests include a heart stress test where a player is put on a treadmill to see how the heart responds to fatigue and running," he told Daily News.
"It also comes down to correct medical screening. It is never going to be 100 percent, but we want to be close," added Milner, who revealed X-rays of the heart and checking for proper blood flow and pulse are amongst the normal tests performed.
