Kaizer Chiefs’ potential trip to Italy has fallen through, with the club likely to do their preseason in Nelspruit rather than Europe.
It was reported last week that Chiefs’ head coach, Stuart Baxter, had spent time in Italy during an end of season holiday, and had used his contacts to try and organise that the Amakhosi spend time in Italy, playing in two friendly games as they prepare to defend their PSL title when the 2013/14 season begins.
However, the Siya crew has since been informed that, despite preliminary talks going well, the trip will now not be going ahead after management seemingly pulled the plug on the plans.
Baxter recently returned to Mzansi and will soon begin putting his players through their paces to prepare them for the first Soweto Derby of the season, when Chiefs take on Orlando Pirates in the Carling Black Label Cup later this month.
While there has been no confirmation from the Glamour Boys as to where they will spend their preseason, it is thought that they could be on their way to Nelspruit in the near future.
Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will clash on July 27, with the title of 2013 Carling Black Label Cup champions up for grabs.
