Chiefs: 3 points from the title

Cape Town - Following Mamelodi Sundowns' stunning 5-0 defeat to Bloemfontein Celtic on Wednesday, Kaizer Chiefs require three points from their remaining four PSL matches to secure this year's Absa Premiership title.

The Brazilians' slim chances of this year's title suffered a blow at the Lucas Moripe Stadium when they crashed to a sensational defeat to leave the Amakhosi in the pound seats for the 2014/15 title.

The Glamour Boys enjoy a 13-point lead atop the standings, with four matches remaining.

Despite their defeat, defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns remain the Glamour Boys' closest challengers. Pitso Mosimane's side have just five league matches to play, meaning they can only accrue a maximum return of 15 more points should they win all five fixtures.

Kaizer Chiefs, therefore, require just three points to put the title beyond the reach of their fierce rivals - and they will get the chance to pick up those points in their next match at the FNB Stadium against eighth-placed Polokwane City on Wednesday, April 22.

Sadly, the title race may already have been decided when the two title challengers meet in a top of the table clash on Wednesday, April 29 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Should Stuart Baxter's men go on to lift the title, it will be their fourth league victory since the league's inception in the 1996/97 season.
