Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs may have released a number of star players, but they are but they are not just sitting back and have already started looking at which players they want to bring in.

One such player is believed to be Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder, Lebohang "Cheeseboy" Mokoena.

A source at Sundowns indicated that Amakhosi are interested in the former Orlando Pirates prodigy.

He said it’s not the first time they have shown the interest in the player.

"Yes its true Chiefs are interested in Cheeseboy,” the source told Sport24.

“But according to Sundowns he extended his contract already with the Brazilians, though the player and his representative say he will be a free agent when his contract ends on June 30,” the source revealed.

"So Chiefs would get him for free if all goes according to their plan."

‘Cheeseboy’ made his debut for Orlando Pirates while he was still at high school at the age of 17.

His career never hit the heights that many expected but at 28 years of age he still has a good few years in his legs.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
