Cape Town - Lerato Chabangu could be handed a career lifeline by Chippa United after it was confirmed the former Moroka Swallows forward is currently training with the club.
The 30-year-old has been a free agent since parting ways with the recently relegated Dube birds and failed to win a contract with a Premiership side despite training with Bidvest Wits for most of the summer.
Chippa United's Communications and Marketing Manager, Luthando Zibeko, has confirmed the former Mamelodi Sundowns star is on trial at the club.
"Lerato is currently with us and training. He is currently being assessed by the club," he told Soccer Laduma.
Chabagu, who has been capped 25 times by Bafana Bafana, will be hoping to extend his top-flight career after spending 10 years in the division with Sundowns, Supersport United and Moroka Swallows respectively.
