Celtic poised for tight Dikwena encounter

Cape Town - Bloemfontein Celtic and Platinum Stars will chase their first win of the new Absa Premiership season when they meet at Free State Stadium.

Celtic’s 2015/16 league campaign began on a low note with a 3-2 loss away to Polokwane City on August 8.

Phunya Sele Sele are placed 12th on the Absa Premiership log with zero points from one match.

Stars opened their 2015/16 league campaign with a goalless draw at home to Mamelodi Sundowns on August 8.

Dikwena are placed 11th on the Absa Premiership log with one point from one match.

In head-to-head stats, Celtic and Stars have met in 22 league matches since 2004/05.

Phunya Sele Sele have eight wins compared to seven for Dikwena, while seven matches have been drawn.

Celtic have won six of their 11 home matches against Stars, suffering four defeats in the process.

Last season Phunya Sele Sele took four points off Dikwena, drawing 0-0 in Rustenburg before winning the return game in Bloemfontein 2-0.

The teams’ last four league matches have produced just three goals and include two 0-0 draws.

Kick-off is at 15:00 on Sunday, August 23.
