Johannesburg - Bloemfontein Celtic got their Absa Premiership campaign off to a cracking start with a 3-0 demolition of Golden Arrows in Durban on Saturday.
A second-half brace by Zambian Clifford Mulenga, who scored twice within three minutes, sealed a convincing win for the visitors.
Arrows were forced into defence from the opening minutes, and although they managed to trouble Celtic as early as the 14th minute, when goalkeeper Patrick Tignyemb kept out an effort from Philani Shange, the hosts were always on the back foot.
Thokozani Mshengu scored after a set-piece in the 33rd minute, thundering it in from the edge of the box after a corner taken by Kgotso Moleko.
Celtic built on their momentum and pushed forward, with busy Arrows goalkeeper Helton da Rocha doing well to retain the one-goal deficit.
Celtic, however, were relentless and Mulenga drilled in a long range effort in the 50th minute.
Three minutes later he connected with a pass from Moses Spandeel to tap in from the edge of the area.
The visitors continued to surge against a struggling Arrows defence, but their shots were erratic and most were fired wide.
Mulenga came close to scoring a hat-trick, but his 81st minute effort was saved by Da Rocha.
