Celtic late show seals draw

Rustenberg - Bloemfontein Celtic equalised in the dying minutes to secure a 1-1 draw and steal a crucial point in an Absa Premiership clash against Platinum Stars at Moruleng Stadium on Saturday.

Neither side wrested control in the first half, with both teams pushing forward on the counter attack and producing multiple chances, most of them rather tame.

The second half was more sedate, but for some drama in the last 10 minutes.

Celtic goalkeepe Patrick Tignyemb was booked for bringing down Thuso Phala in the area in the 83rd minute, and Bradly Grobler scored from the resultant penalty to give the hosts the lead.

Four minutes later, however, Celtic struck back after Mbulelo Mabizela was found to have handled the ball, and Angelo Kerspuy took full advantage to equalise for the visitors.

Celtic, in fifth place on the log, saw their slim title chances take a further knock, trailing fourth-placed Mamelodi Sundowns by five points.

Stars slipped deeper into the bottom half of the table, dropping one position to 10th on goal difference.
