Cape Town - Bloemfontein Celtic have completed the capture of SuperSport United defender Bevan Fransman, it was confirmed on Wednesday.
Former Bafana Bafana international Fransman has signed a two-year deal in the Free State after requesting a move away from Matsatsantsa.
In a twist of irony, he will be a replacement for Clayton Daniels, who left Celtic for SuperSport at the end of the recently completed season.
Fransman had grown disillusioned at a lack of game-time at SuperSport towards the end of last season, when he did not make an appearance after March having fallen out of favour with coach Cavin Johnson.
”I’m excited about the move, Celtic is a great club with unbelievable supporters and I look forward to helping the team continue building on their recent success,” Fransman said.
Celtic will be Fransman’s fifth PSL club, and seventh overall, having also previously turned out for Mother City, Kaizer Chiefs, Moroka Swallows and SuperSport.
He also had two spells overseas, first with Excelsior Mouscron in Belgium, and later Maccabi Netanya and Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel.
Fransman previously worked with Celtic coach Ernst Middendorp when they were together at Chiefs for the 2005/06 season.
