Celtic closing in on Baloyi

Cape Town - Bloemfontein Celtic could be closing in on securing the services of Lucky Baloyi from Kaizer Chiefs, in a swap deal that includes Keegan Ritchie making a shock return to Naturena.

According to sources, the two teams are at advanced stage of negotiations in a deal that will see Ritchie making a shock return to Amakhosi, less than two seasons after leaving Naturena.

Ritchie still has a year to go on his contract with Celtic having penned a two-year deal with the club last year.

“We are at advanced negotiation with Chiefs over Lucky for a swap deal that has seen them take Ritchie from us, after he made a request to be released because of family issues, as he wanted to be closer to his family in Johannesburg,”  the source said.

“At the moment the player is in Johannesburg finalising his move back to Chiefs while on the other hand we hope to conclude the deal to bring Baloyi before Tuesday.”

It was reported earlier that a number of clubs were already talking to Chiefs over the midfielder, who had a successful 2014/15 season during a loan spell at Moroka Swallows.

The source said the Free State based team is confident of sealing Baloyi’s signature before Tuesday, the same day that Chiefs is expected to announce its new players that include Ritchie.

Clinton Larsen’s side has been very busy in the market and have already acquired the services of Geoffrey Massa from University of Pretoria, Thabang Matuka from Maritzburg United and the duo of Vuyisile Wana and Lantshene Phalane from Moroka Swallows.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
