Celtic beat Aces

Johannesburg - Bloemfontein Celtic beat Mpumalanga Black Aces 1-0 in their Absa Premiership match at Seisa Ramabodu Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Aces midfielder David Mathebula orchestrated moves in the middle of the park but most of the time his final passes were wayward.

In the 30th minute the visiting Aces team were close to taking the lead when ex- Sundowns midfielder Manqoba Ngwenya's threatening header was saved by keeper Siyabonga Mbatha.

Two minutes later Celtic's Danny Venter missesd a clear cut chance which keeper Dennis Onyango parried for a corner.

The home side took the lead in the 40th minute. Clifford Mulenga ran through two defenders and made a neat pass to Siphelele Mthembu who made no mistake and slotted the ball home to make it 1-0 Celtic.

There were no further goals in the game, and the second half provided little in the way of goal-scoring chances for either side.
