Cape Town - Former Bidvest Wits defender Bradley Carnell admits Kaizer Chiefs were lucky to escape their MTN8 Cup semi-final with a victory over Bloemfontein Celtic.
Chiefs played to a 1-0 victory [2-1 on aggregate] against Phunya Sele Sele in order to qualify for the Wafa Wafa final.
“Look, I think Chiefs were lucky in the first half of it and
Keegan Buchanan had a great opportunity. I think this game changed them a lot
going forward,” he told Sport24.
“Lebese has definitely been on great form lately and I am quite impressed with his style of play besides being on the score sheet.
“He was the main player going into the game was definitely the highlight.
“Shabba didn’t play a glamorous role in the game but
he played a very big role in the defence side which was looking really good for
a change."
The former Bafana Bafana player says that it will be an interesting final to watch between Amakhosi and Ajax Cape Town and he looks forward to the challenging encounter.
“Well obviously it’s a tough one for the team defending the title and this has happened before but I am looking forward to a challenging but excited football game."
The final is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 19 with the neutral venue still to be confirmed.
