Cardoso has always featured prominently for the Free State
club, when fit, but the prospect of being locked in another relegation battle
with the team is weighing heavily on his mind and might eventually prove to be
a determining factor when he eventually decides on whether he will extend his
stay in Bethlehem.
"Regarding my contract, we will see what happens
because I have a one-year option to renew," Cardoso told KickOff.
"Last year we (Free State Stars) battled a bit in the
relegation zone and I don't want go back there so I'm pushing myself to get out
of that position... otherwise we going to go back and suffer and we don't want
that once again this season.
"I have been in the Free State for three years, so I
need a new challenge and we will see what happens."
While he is thinking about his long-term future, Cardoso has
reminded the football fraternity that he is still contracted to Free State
Stars at this juncture, suggesting that the primary objective, for the moment,
would be to help the club avoid relegation.
"I'm not disturbed and I'm fully committed to Free
State Stars and I want to do the best I can," he added.
