Cardoso completes Chiefs move

Cape Town - Free State Stars have confirmed the departure of top defender Daniel Cardoso who is set to complete his big move to Absa Premiership champions, Kaizer Chiefs.

According to a source within the club, the deal between Ea Lla Koto and Chiefs has been finalised and the player is headed for Naturena.

“The two clubs have now struck a deal regarding the defender, and he will be unveiled as an Amakhosi player in their press conference tomorrow (Tuesday) I believe,” he said.

“Agreeing on figures was the reason the deal took some time to be concluded, because Stars wanted more than R2m, and Chiefs were able to meet that.”

He said they are happy for their hard working defender who, he said, was very instrumental in Ea Lla Koto’s revival late in the 2014/15 season.

“Cardoso has done well since joining the team and our management knew that it was just a matter of time before big teams came knocking,” he said.

“All we can do now is to wish him well as the player has always wanted to see himself playing for Chiefs.”
