Cape Town - Free State Stars defender Daniel Cardoso has been given the green light to return to full training as he continues his recovery from a shin injury.

Cardoso has yet to feature this season after being sidelined by a stress fractured that he suffered during pre-season.

The 26-year-old admitted that it has been frustrating not to be able to contribute thus far, and that he is eager to get back on the park.

"It was frustrating (watching from the sidelines), but we have a brilliant coach who know what he is doing," Cardoso told the club's website.

"I've been with the team the whole time, but I hadn't been doing full training to avoid contact. I'm glad that I will now be back to full training.

"I might have to join the reserve side to gain match fitness, it's great platform as there is also a lot of exposure there which should really help me build up for first team action."

Meanwhile Orlando Pirates will look to return to winning ways in the Absa Premiership when they host Ea Lla Koto at Orlando Stadium on Saturday, October 18.

Stars recorded a third win from their last five league matches when they beat Moroka Swallows 3-2 at home.

Tom Saintfiet side have already claimed three points from as many away matches this season.

Ea Lla Koto are placed sixth on the PSL log with 10 points from seven matches.

Kick-off is at 20:15.
