SuperSport United suffered a third successive league defeat when they were beaten 2-0 away to Kaizer Chiefs in their last outing which culminated in the termination of Cavin Johnson's time at Matsatsantsa.

The Tshwane side have just one win from their first five games and sit in 14th place on the log, just one point better off than last placed AmaZulu.

Gordon Igesund has been tasked with the job of turning SuperSport United's fortunes around. The former Bafana Bafana coach has outlined his plan to get his new side back into the top eight before the end of the year.

Igesund will be hoping to defeat Platinum Stars before shifting his focus on SuperSport' next three league opponents are Bloemfontein Celtic (home), University of Pretoria (away) and Maritzburg United (home).

Platinum Stars are currently sitting in ninth spot on the log having accrued seven points from five matches including their first draw of the season when they were held to a goalless at home by Bloemfontein Celtic.

Allan Freese’s side has claimed three points from a possible six in away matches this season so they should provide more than a challenge to Igesund's side.

Their next three league opponents are University of Pretoria (home), Maritzburg United and Ajax Cape Town (both away).

Last season, Dikwena took four points off Matsatsantsa, winning 3-0 in Rustenburg before a 1-1 draw in the return game in Tshwane.

In head-to-head stats, SuperSport and Stars have met in 22 league matches since 2003/04.

United have 10 wins compared to the six for Dikwena, while six matches have ended in draws.

SuperSport United have won just three of their 11 home matches against Platinum Stars, suffering four defeats in the time.

Kick-off is at 18:00.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
