Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs' Ugandan midfielder Ivan Bukenya has hailed the influence of club-mate Willard Katsande, saying he has helped improve his individual game immensely.
Although the 23-year-old Bukenya is in direct competition with the more experienced Katsande for a starting berth at AmaKhosi, the forward is still pleased to be learning from the Zimbabwean, while playing alongside internationals like Siphiwe Tshabalala and Reneilwe Letsholonyane has also had a positive effect on his game.
"It's good to compete with a player like Willard. He pushes me in the right direction. He helps me improve my game," Bukenya told Soccer Laduma.
"I know that every time I am given the chance I have to play as much better as Willard does and that helps me improve my game.
"Also playing alongside players like Shabba and Yeye is helpful to me and my game. I want to keep on improving every time I play and that is because Willard pushes me."
Bukenya will hope to pick up his first winners' medal in South African football when AmaKhosi take on Ajax Cape Town in MTN8 final on Saturday, September 18.
Kick-off is 15:00.
