Pirates unveil new signings

Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates have unveiled midfielders Sifiso Myeni from Bidvest Wits and Thandani Ntshumayelo from SuperSport United on Tuesday, with both players handed three-year deals.

Until recently, Myeni was also linked to Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs but Pirates won the day as they managed to secure his signature.

The midfielder is so talented that Pirates did not think twice about signing him, despite the fact that he has a broken leg that will keep him out of action for two months. The player is expected to start a rehabilitation programme on Monday to kick-start his recovery process.

"It’s a privilege and honour to join Orlando Pirates. I know it won't be easy to walk into the team because of the quality in the team, but I am prepared to fight for a place in the lineup," said Myeni.

Meanwhile, the signing of Ntshumayelo from SuperSport United will come as no surprise after the player was linked to the Sea Robbers for the last few weeks.

"Football is football. The harder you work the luckier you become. I have been at SuperSport United for my whole playing career. They made me who I am today and I will always remain grateful for that.

“Pirates are a strong team, with strong players but I am not here to make up the numbers. I want to make a mark at the club," said Ntshumayelo.

This brings to five the number of players signed by Pirates during this window. Others are Luis Boa Morte, Thabo Matlaba and Njabulo Manqana.
