Bucs stall on R2m Rantie deal

Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates are reportedly looking to force down IFK Hassleholm's asking price for Tokelo Rantie, who the Swedish club value at R2 million.

The Buccaneers reaped plenty of reward from the 21-year-old during his loan stay in Soweto last season, with the striker bagging seven goals to help the team to a second successive treble haul.

However, the Pirates board appear to believe they can land the highly-rated forward for an even bigger bargain, with Hassleholm currently playing their football in the lower echelons of Swedish football.

However, the Sea Robbers' decision to hold back on an offer appears to have paved the way for big spending Mamelodi Sundowns, who have reportedly already put forward a deal surpassing the R2m asking price.

Pirates, though, could just be holding out to see what develops in their on-going talks with Zimbabwean international striker Takesure Chinyama, although that deal is also believed to have stalled over Dynamos' asking price.
