Bucs shift their focus to the PSL

Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates will be looking to bounce back after their MTN8 Final loss when they face Chippa United in the Absa Premiership.

A 1-0 defeat to their arch rivals, Kaizer Chiefs, in the MTN8 Final in Durban, will push the Sea Robbers to wanting to brush the new Easten Cape based team aside easily as they travel to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Pirates recorded a third successive league victory when they defeated Bidvest Wits 1-0 at home in their last PSL outing.

The Soweto giants have claimed seven points from a possible nine away from home this season.

Their next three league opponents are Free State Stars (home), Black Aces (away) and Kaizer Chiefs (home).

Vladimir Vermezovic’s side are placed third on the Absa Premiership standings with 11 points from six matches.

United will look to add on to Pirates' woes after recording their second win of the season in their last outing, overcoming Moroka Swallows 2-0 away from home.

The Chilli Boys side claimed four points from a possible nine in home matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are AmaZulu (away), Mamelodi Sundowns (home) and Polokwane City (away).

Chippa occupy ninth position on log with seven points from six matches.

In head-to-head stats, Chippa and Pirates have met in just two previous league matches.

Both of those encounters took place in the 2012/13 season. The Chilli Boys claimed four points, drawing 0-0 in Cape Town before a 1-0 win in the return match in Soweto.

Kick-off is set for 15:00 on Saturday, September 27.
