Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates midfielder Isaac Chansa says the Buccaneers can break their bad spell and win the their first Premier Soccer League title in eight years.
Chansa is beaming with confidence after marking his return with a goal for Pirates in the 2-1 victory over Platinum Stars on Sunday.
The Zambian international has been warming the bench a lot recently after a bad run of form but made a welcome return to top flight football when coach Ruud Krol handed him a starting role.
Chansa did well to repay the technical team with a goal to put Pirates back on top of the league table.
He said clinching the title is now a possibility, but admitted there's still a lot of work to be done.
Pirates lead the PSL on goal difference with three games to go, with Ajax Cape Town in second place (56 points); and Kaizer Chiefs (53) and Mamelodi Sundowns (51) in third and fourth place respectively.
Chansa insists the Bucs are not getting ahead of themselves and are taking it one match at a time.
He told the club's website: "It will not be easy but we will continue fighting all the way until the last match.
"So far everything is going well for us, and I think we are on track."
"The league title is still open for any of the four teams, and for us we just have to keep winning."We are playing like a very strong team you saw that we were down (after conceding against Stars) but we came back strong and this is a good thing for us," he added.
Orlando Pirates face Free States Stars in a Nedbank Cup match on Monday April 25, and according to Chansa, the team will approach this match with the same intensity and mentality they have applied in the past.
"Winning is good," he said bluntly. "It motivates the team and we will do everything to continue doing that. Consistency is the key to success to any sport, especially in football.
"Although we playing (Free Stats) Stars in a cup match, we will apply the same mentality and intensity as we have in the league this season. Once again, we not going to start talking about lifting the Nedbank Cup even though its only three matches away instead, we are going to take it one match at a time and hope for the best."
