Bucs CAF CL squad revealed

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates Football Club have announced the squad which will do battle in the 2015 CAF Confederations Cup.

Pirates official website confirmed that the Buccaneers have been handed a bye in the first preliminary stage of the competition and will begin their quest of Confederations Cup glory against the winner between URA Football Club from Uganda and Elgeco Plus from Madagascar in the Last 16 stage of the 2015 CAF Confederations Cup.

Goalkeepers: Brighton Mhlongo, Philani Zikalala

Defenders: Siyabonga Sangweni, Rooi Mahamutsa, Ayanda Gcaba, Patrick Phungwayo, Happy Jele, Thabo Matlaba, Ntsikeleli Nyauza, Lucky Lekgwathi

Midfielders: Issa Sarr, Khethokwake Masuku, Thabo Rakhale, Mpho Makola, Thandani Ntshumayelo, Daine Klate, Oupa Manyisa, Sifiso Myeni, Lehlogonolo Masalesa, Thabo Qalinge

Strikers: Lennox Bacela, Thamsanqa Gabuza, Kermit Erasmus, Helder Pelembe, Lehlohonolo Majoro

Last 16 matches will be played on the weekend of 13-15 March 2015 (first leg) and the weekend of 3-5 April 2015 (second leg) Should the Buccaneers advance to the next round, they will need to defeat the winner between Polisi (Tanzania) v MC Mounana (Gabon) / Power Dynamos (Zambia) v Khartoum (Sudan). A win in the second round would see the Buccaneers qualify for the group stages of the competition.

At this stage Orlando Pirates will be able to register a further five players to the squad.

Other notable teams competing in the 2015 edition of the CAF Confederations Cup are: Asec Mimosa (Cote d'Ivoire), Club Africain (Tunisia), Zamalek (Egypt), Hearts of Oak (Ghana), Etoile-du-Sahel (Tunisia), AS Vita (DRC).
