Cape Town - Henrico Botes is a happy man after extending his Bidvest Wits stay for another season having signed a new one-year deal.
“Obviously this is good for me and I’m very happy that the team has given me a new contract to continue playing at the highest level,” Botes told Sport24.
The 35-year-old striker said he is motivated by veterans such as Siyabonga Nomvethe, who continue to deliver even in their late 30s.
“I do not see a reason why I should not keep playing at my age when you have veterans such as Nomvethe still performing so well at their age. As long as you look after your body then you can continue to perform at this level for a long time.”
The Namibian-born player, who has also played for Moroka Swallows and Platinum stars, said he was keen to repay Wits by helping the team challenge for honours in the new season.
“We all know that Gavin Hunt is a coach who likes to win and it’s obvious that the team will be stronger in the new season as he has not won anything since coming to Wits,” said the striker.
“I believe that the team will be in good shape to push even harder in the new season and I’m also motivated to contribute by giving my best for every match,” he said.
