Booth signs new Ajax deal

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town defender, Matthew Booth, has signed a new one-year deal with the club and will have an option of another extra year in 12 months.

The 35-year-old had earlier been hoping for a longer deal with the club, which he joined last October on a one-season package. He threatened to return to Johannesburg but has now conceded and accepted Ajax’s offer and moved down with his family.

Booth confirmed the news to Soccer Laduma and admitted that he's happy to have it sorted and is looking forward to the new season and the game against Manchester United this weekend.

"Yes, I’ve just signed the contract now, everything’s fine and I signed a one plus one (year) deal. I’ll just take it season by season and see what happens. I’m feeling good, we’ve just come back from Stellenbosch. We’ve had a few friendlies and obviously the big one is on Saturday.”
