Booth has moved to Cape Town to continue his rehabilitation after knee reconstruction surgery in March and Ajax are hoping he will join them on training field soon so they can continue their assessment of his ability to bounce back after a serious injury.
“There is no commitment on either side. At the end of the month we will hopefully see him on the training ground with the other players and then we’ll take it from there,” Comitis told SuperSport.com
Ajax had contacted Booth last month as possible cover for departing Clayton Daniels, who joined Mamelodi Sundowns near the end of the transfer window.
But after a medical examination Ajax decided against offering Booth a contract until such time as he has proved his fitness.
Booth has moved to Cape Town in an attempt to speed up his recovery, working with Ajax’s medical staff.
“After six months and 14 days I finally put on boots and kicked a ball. I had my first session at Ajax … field work, ball work and spinning … and have just walked in the invigorating False Bay sea water,” Booth posted on his Facebook site last week.
Ajax can sign the 33-year-old Booth at any time because he is out of contract. His deal at Mamelodi Sundowns was not renewed at the end of last season.
