Boebie Solomons joins Celtic

Bloemfontein - Absa Premiership club Bloemfontein Celtic have appointed former Santos coach Boebie Solomons as their new assistant coach, the club announced on Tuesday.

Solomons replaces Molefi Ntseki, who has been moved the club’s development teams.

"We are happy. We wish to congratulate Boebie Solomons on his appointment. It could not have happened to a more deserving candidate as several coaches had applied for the job. We know he will make a success of his new job.

"Boebie is a top-notch coach and he has tons of experience. He will commence his duties immediately," said club Khumbulani Konco in an interview with the team's website.

Coach Clinton Larsen is also quoted on the club’s website as saying he was excited by this development as Solomons would bring a lot of expertise and experience into the technical team.

"Boebie is a knowledgeable coach and his record speaks volumes. We believe his experience will benefit the club a great deal. Personally, I’m happy we have a very strong technical team. We are raring to go and looking for the new season coming up," Larsen said.

Solomons, who was released from his duties at Santos towards the end of the season following a string on uninspiring results, said he was happy at joining the ambitious Celtic.

"It’s a great honour for me to be part of Celtic family. Clinton talked me into joining this ambitious club and I came here because of his attitude. I believe he is one of the best young coaches in the country. I would love to work and help him achieve big things. Hopefully together we can grow and awaken this sleeping giant," he said.
