Bloem Celtic sack Middendorp

Bloemfontein - After a string of unconvincing results, Bloemfontein Celtic have parted ways with  coach, Ernst Middendorp.

The club announced the news via their official website on Sunday night.

“Unfortunately positive results were not forthcoming and both parties deemed it appropriate to mutually terminate the contract,” a club statement read.

Clinton Larsen will immediately take over as head coach with his first assignment against Mpumalanga Black Aces on Wednesday.

Lehlohonolo Seema, who was not on the bench during Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Moroka Swallows due to family reasons, will remain as an assistant to Larsen. The duo will be joined by Simon Gopane as goalkeeper coach.

“The team wishes Ernst together with his assistant Fadlu Davids and goalkeeper coach (Ronnie Kanalelo) all the best in their future endeavours.”

Phunya Sele Sele are currently 10th on the PSL standings, with just four wins from 15 matches.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
