Cape Town - Jeremy Brockie pulled a goal back for SuperSport United to help salvage a 1-1 draw against Mpumalanga Black Aces in their PSL encounter in Mbombela on Saturday evening.
Matsatsantsa had trailed after an earlier goal from Aces’ Aubrey Ngoma.The match took time to get going and only in the 32nd minute did Dove Wome took a shot just outside the box but it was well saved by Jackson Mabokgwane.However, in the 35th minute Ngoma put the ball in the back of the net for Aces after an assist by Bethuel Tukane.
In the 39th minute, Isaka Cernak and Brockie combined brilliantly with the former providing a great cross. Brockie however put his header wide.
United were looking to level matters and in the 44th minute when Thuso Phala sent a good shot from the edge of the box but it went wide.
In the 50th minute, Bongolethu Jayiya hit a shot just outside the box but it was well saved by Ronwen Williams.
Brockie equalised for Matsatsantsa in the 68th minute when Wome made a neat chip into the box to allow his team-mate to slot home from close range.
SuperSport looked for a winner and in the 80th minute and Wome hit a fierce shot close to the box but it went over the bar.
Michael Boxall nearly scored a winner in the 84th minute with a header but his effort went inches over the bar.
Brockie had an opportunity to seal the game in the 87th minute from close range but his shot went wide.
