Bishop lauds PSL for raising levels

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns Head of Youth Development Shawn Jacobs said that the PSL has been doing a great in organizing the league and raising the level of each the clubs.

Shawn Jacobs spoke to FIFA website, saying most of the players in the PSL clubs have come from youth academies such as SuperSport, Wits, School of Excellence and Sundowns.

Jacobs, who is also the assistant coach to the national Under-17 team, went on to say that if national principles are established to have clubs invest in youth football development the growth would certainly be seen and improved.

“The PSL is doing a great job in organising the league and raising the level of the clubs,” he said.

“Most of our players come from four institutions in the province of Gauteng who have been working on their youth academies: Supersport, Wits, School of Excellence and Sundowns. 

“If we establish national principles to have clubs investing in the development of youth football, the growth and the results will certainly be there to be seen.

“The crowning achievement in my opinion is that a number of players have represented the country at all Age groups, over the last two years,” he concluded.
