Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town attacking midfielder Khama Billiat has put his hot
and cold performances this season down to the departure of Thulani
Serero, amongst other factors.
The Zimbabwean international has registered five goals in all competitions this season, but admitted to Football365.co.za that Serero's departure to Ajax Amsterdam has taken a heavy toll on his progress in the PSL this season.
"I obviously miss Thulani, because we played so good together,
but that's in the past and I need to make it work with my team-mates
now," he said.
"Honestly, I still have a lot of things to work on in my game
like my crossing, finishing and my decision-making when I get inside the
box and this is what I spoke to the coach about."
Billiat confirmed Urban Warriors coach Maarten Stekelenburg had
expressed his displeasure at the player's poor showing in some games
this term, and demanded an improvement.
"Yeah, we have chatted about my form and he did ask me to
maintain some consistency. I have to work hard on this," Billiat added.
"But on the other hand, I'm encouraged by the fact that I have
scored five goals already this season so there are a lot of positives
about my game, but obviously I want to improve."
There was talk recently of Billiat going on trial at the Mother
City outfit's parent club in Amsterdam in the near future, and while the
former CAPS United attacker admits it is his dream to one day play in
Europe, he told this site all talk relating to a possible move is
"I don't know anything about it. However, it is my wish to end up playing my football in Europe," Billiat concluded.
