Billiat: Goal was a fluke

Cape Town - Zimbabwe midfielder Khama Billiat admits there was more than a hint of good luck about his winner against Malawi on Saturday.

The Warriors came away from their opening 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier with all three points thanks to a 2-1 victory, with Mamelodi Sundowns winger Billiat netting the winner just eight minutes from the end.

The playmaker has, however, admitted he was fortunate to see his effort go in, having initially attempted to cross from out wide, only to see the ball sail over the goalkeeper's head before nestling in the back of the net.

"To be honest I was even surprised myself to see the ball getting into the nets," Billiat told SuperSport.

"That was meant to be a cross but it ended up being a straight goal.

"I guess luck was on my side. The most important thing it was a very important goal and we ended up winning that match.

"We played as a team and that fighting spirit is something that should always be in the team."
