Big win for AmaZulu

Durban - AmaZulu put the disappointment of their cup loss behind them when they got their second straight home victory with a 2-0 win over Bloemfontein Celtic at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Tsweu Mokoro and Stanton Lewis scored in the second half to see the home side unbeaten in their last thee Absa Premiership matches.

Ramson Zhuwawo squandered a great chance to break the deadlock in the 11th minute when he received an in-swinging cross from Stanton Lewis but he headed wide with the goal at his mercy.

Clifford Mulenga almost scored at the other end when he unleashed a left-footed shot but Tapuwa Kapini made a low save.

Celtic should have opened the scoring in the 31st minute when Kapini spilt the ball from a corner but the experienced goalkeeper recovered well to tip the ball over the bar to deny Letladi Madubanya.

Usuthu started the second half well with Lewis forcing a save from Patrick Tignyemb five minutes after the break.

The opener arrived in the 74th minute when Thabo Nthethe was dispossessed by Zhuwawo who passed to Mokoro and the veteran hit the back of the net.

Then Mongala’s shot hit the upright as Celtic fought back.

But Usuthu wanted the win more, with Zhuwawo passing to Lewis who calmy slotted home with four minutes to go.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
