Johannesburg - Dikgang Mabalane will be forced to watch Orlando Pirates from the stands for at least two months after tearing his adductor muscle.
The right winger complained of a groin problem after the Telkom Knockout final defeat to Kaizer Chiefs and underwent a scan on Monday.
The results of the X-ray was not good news for Mabalane, who has been virtually ever-present in Pirates' starting line-up this season.
'Terminator' will miss the three remaining fixtures for 2010 and some of the early encounters in the new year.
"Obviously, I am disappointed with the bad news that I will miss the remainder of the year due to injury," he said.
"What was odd though is that I played the whole match without experiencing any problems.
"It was only when we were in the referee's optional time that I felt a sudden sharp pain in my groin region."
Mabalane added: "The medical team attended to the problem immediately, before they decided to book me in for a scan on Monday.
"I couldn't believe it when I was told that I would be out for so long but there is nothing that I can do about it...I just have to deal with it.
"I want to get back to action as soon as possible, but I don't have to rush myself. We will see how things go throughout my rehab programme."
Mabalane's injury could pave the way for Teko Modise or Tlou Segolela to break into the first team.
